1. Who We Are & Parental Consent

A Bedtime Story (“A Bedtime Story,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent web application created and operated by Andy Warr (“Developer”). The service allows parents, guardians, and families to turn real-life photos of their children and pets into personalized, illustrated bedtime storybooks.

Our Service is directed to and intended for purchase and use exclusively by adults (parents or legal guardians aged 18 and older). When you upload photos or personal details of a minor child, you represent and affirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have obtained explicit parental permission to create a storybook starring them.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimal information required to deliver your customized storybooks:

• Account Information: When you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture to authenticate your account and display your personal library.
• Ephemeral Photo Uploads & Hero Details: Photos of children, pets, or family members you choose to upload are processed strictly in temporary RAM to extract visual traits (e.g. hair style, eye color, pet breed) and are immediately discarded. We never save or archive your raw photos. Only the resulting stylized character avatar and character name are stored in your library.
• Story Configurations & Custom Prompts: Selected story templates, target age group (e.g. 0–3, 4–7, 8–12), chosen illustration style, language preferences (bilingual mode), and any custom storyline prompts you write.
• Payment Information: All payment transactions are processed directly by our PCI-compliant payment partner, Stripe. We never receive or store your raw credit card numbers or banking credentials.

3. Ephemeral Photo Processing & Zero Storage

We treat your family photos with the utmost privacy and confidentiality through a zero-photo-retention architecture:

• Zero Photo Storage: We never store, write to disk, or save your uploaded photos to our database or cloud storage buckets.
• Ephemeral In-Memory Analysis: Uploaded photo data is held only in temporary system memory during the seconds required to extract structured visual descriptions (e.g. curly brown hair, blue shirt) and render your character avatar. The raw photo buffer is immediately erased from memory.
• No Model Training: Uploaded photos and likenesses are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve public AI foundation models.
• No Third-Party Sharing: We never share, sell, or license your photos to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties.

4. AI Processing & Likeness Privacy

To generate consistent character illustrations and child-safe bedtime narratives, our platform interacts with enterprise AI APIs (such as Google Cloud Vertex AI and OpenAI Enterprise) under strict commercial terms that enforce zero data retention for training. Your data is processed in isolated, encrypted sessions and returned directly to your private storybook.

5. How We Share & Store Data

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data or family photos. We only share information with trusted infrastructure providers who help us operate A Bedtime Story:

• Google Cloud Storage: For encrypted cloud storage of your book assets, illustrations, and generated pages. (Raw user photos are never stored in GCS).
• Stripe: For secure, one-time payment processing.
• Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or urgent court order to protect the safety of a child or comply with applicable regulations.

6. Data Retention & Deletion Rights

You maintain total control over your family's data at all times:

• On-Demand Deletion: You can delete any character avatar or completed storybook directly from your library, or permanently erase your entire account in one click from your account settings.
• Full Account Deletion: You can delete your account directly inside Settings or email us at andywarr@gmail.com. All personal records, character avatars, and storybooks are permanently wiped.
• Data Portability: You may read and review all books saved in your digital library at any time.

7. Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

Protecting the privacy of young children is our highest priority:

• A Bedtime Story is intended for use by adult parents and legal guardians. Children under 13 are not permitted to register accounts, log in, or submit personal information directly.
• All character creation and storybook ordering must be initiated and managed by a verified parent or legal guardian.
• We do not request or collect more information than is strictly necessary to generate your family's personalized storybooks.
• If you believe a child has submitted personal information without parental consent, please contact me immediately at andywarr@gmail.com so I can promptly delete it.

8. Security Safeguards

We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to keep your family's data safe:

• All web traffic and API calls are encrypted using Modern TLS / HTTPS.
• Stored images and book records are encrypted at rest on secure cloud servers.
• Access to production databases is strictly restricted to the developer on a principle-of-least-privilege basis.

9. Updates & Contact Us

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, improvements, or legal standards. If we make material changes to how we handle children's photos or likeness data, we will provide prominent notice on our website or notify you via email prior to the changes taking effect.
